Philanthropy refers to the investment of energy, time, and/or money into an area where it will do the maximum amount of good. This is different from charity, which can be understood as a general sense of goodwill and service aimed at those who are suffering. Philanthropy is about seeing the long-term view. In passing a homeless person on the street, the charitable person may give them some money, or even a meal. The philanthropist might appear to simply pass them by, but be moved enough to find a way to help alleviate the whole culture that leads to homelessness.

At Prosperity Homes, we see that we are doing acts of charity, but with the long-term view of Philanthropic work. Our work is aimed at creating long-term solutions to the problems we are facing in our communities through personal, one-on-one relationships. We believe in bringing a charitable heart to our philanthropic work. 

Prosperity & Self-Sustainability

One of our core beliefs/strategies inside of being philanthropic is the idea of helping families to a baseline level of prosperity. We believe this is not only what is best for each individual or family, but for the world as a whole. If you lift a family out of extreme poverty and give them the baseline needs to where they can flourish on their own and be self-sustaining, then they can create the prosperity that they seek for themselves and their family. 

This is not about handouts and creating dependency, but working with families so that they can ultimately thrive on their own. A Prosperity Home is one that produces for a family its own energy, provides a large amount of their own food, and creates a space where the family can be prosperous. This solves so many of the world’s problems, poverty, hunger, environment issues, etc.

Empowering Women and Children

One of the greatest ways to be philanthropic and to create self-sustainability is to begin with the women and the children.  This is the evolution of this planet and as the divinity of women is recognized and lifted, then the greatest problems the world is facing can be healed.  The concept of working with women first has been proven to be efficient in many parts of the world.
